How the Root Canal Process Works
Root canals are a critical component in preserving the structure of your tooth and keeping the surrounding areas healthy. At Jaffe Dental Group, our root canals are performed in a two-step process. We’ll begin by taking a digital X-ray of your teeth to examine the severity of your decay and the shape of the root. We’ll then apply local anesthesia to numb the treatment area, making your root canal experience as pleasant as possible.
Once the area is numb, the dentist will begin to drill out the damaged parts of the tooth, clean the infected area, and smooth it out. We’ll then fill the tooth with medicated dental filling and build a custom dental crown to place over the tooth. The dental crown will act as a protective barrier from further damage, leaving you feeling confident as you smile without pain.
